College Park City Council is considering whether to support Prince George’s County’s Clean Water Bill.

Council Bill-80 will create more strict regulations of storm water management in Prince George’s County than is currently required by the state. Terry Schum, College Park planning director, and the city council are currently reviewing this almost 200-page bill.

At last week’s work session, College Park City Council directed city staff to draft a letter in approval of the bill. The city council will vote to officially support CB-80 at its meeting Tuesday.

Schum is drafting the letter of approval for council review. If the letter is adopted by the city council, it will show local support of CB-80 to the Prince George’s County Council, Schum said.

College Park has numerous creeks flowing through the city that are a part of the Anacostia watershed. This is one of the reasons College Park Mayor Andrew Fellows and Councilman Patrick Wojahn (Dist. 1) have expressed their favorable opinions of the bill.
