Car FREE Day posters had a few people excited after mistakenly believing cars were being given away.

“I had to explain it’s not ‘Free Car Day,’ it’s Car FREE Day,” said Jennifer Dadaml, project manager at Prince George’s County Commuter Connections. “Though after they looked at the poster again, everyone understood what it was about.”

Car FREE Day is coming to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area Sept. 22— a day when people are encouraged to use alternative forms of transportation.

It is an annual worldwide event that takes place in over 40 different counties. This is the third year the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area has participated.
